ARTIST STATEMENT

"Most of my inspiration comes from my bicycle trips around Puget Sound or further afield. I'll stop and pull out a sketchbook or snap a photo, then paint the scenes in watercolor back in my studio."

Kathy Marin Collins grew up in the Northwest and expresses her feelings for the outdoors in her dramatic watercolors. Kathy’s French-Croatian heritage and her scientific/medical background provide her with a unique perspective on painting. Using light and shadow, she both highlights strong value contrasts between earth and sky or water and showcases small jewel-like settings. Kathy enjoys painting in her home studio in Lake Forest Park, and maintains a small medical practice in nearby Kirkland.
