ARTIST STATEMENT

"I was born in Seattle and grew up in Berkeley, California and have spent most of my adult years moving from coast-to-coast with a career Navy husband while raising three children. Several years ago, I took a beginner’s painting class at a local community college and I’ve been an avid painter ever since. I’ve continued to learn by a hook and a crook (and lots of books!) so except for the very basics, I’m what might be considered a self-taught painter.

My genre is oils – mostly still lifes on linen done in a somewhat traditional style – sometimes with a modern twist. I enjoy putting different shapes, textures and colors of quiet simple things together and then working to bring them to life on the canvas. There are few greater challenges or joys than this!"
