ARTIST STATEMENT
"I enjoy visualizing how to portray a still life with a limited color palette. As it begins to work and to appear three dimensional I find my excitement growing. When someone else enjoys viewing it, I get a second lift of spirit. "
Kay
Moore Dewar is a lifelong resident of the Pacific NW, currently residing
in the city of Bremerton, Washington. She has now retired from her
position as a Graphics Designer with the University of Washington–a
position which she held for over 30 years. Her graphics are included
in a number of Atmospheric Science publications, classroom textbooks
and have been included in government publications on the environment.
For the past several years she has been designing and administering
websites for the arts and entertainment communities.
As
a fine artist Kay has exhibited in local and international shows
and will be featured in a solo show at Semantics Gallery in Edmonds Feb 15-March 15, 2007. Previously she had a solo show at Glitz, The Gallery (2003) in Bremerton.
An earlier show at the ArtsWest Gallery in West Seattle was entitled "West
Seattle Wanderings." Her artwork is published in the American
Artist magazine (June 2005), American Artist Drawing (Winter
2004) magazine and in the Best of Colored Pencil 3 (1996), Best
of CP 4 (1998) and Best of CP 5 (1999), Rockport Publishers.
Also, finding colored pencil to be a favorite medium, she has been
actively involved in the Colored Pencil Society of America, first
serving as Membership Director (1994-1996), as the Corporate Image
Director/Webmaster (1996-2005) and currently as Webmaster. She also serves as Webmaster for WPW.
