Member Biography

ARTIST STATEMENT

"My mixed media painting process  begins with poured paint on wet paper, and evolves through the application of many successive layers of paint, inks, collage  or other materials. Each layer creates a visual depth, and often a theme will appear unexpectedly,  which invites further exploration and development. As I become more immersed in the media at hand, textures, shapes  and overall design are uppermost in my thinking.  My abstract images are always loosely based on elements of nature, based on my love of the Pacific northwest and my 25 years as a  watercolor landscape painter .It is my hope that each painting will trigger the imagination of my viewer, who then will be able to apply their own meanings and feelings to each piece."
