Member Biography

ARTIST STATEMENT

"After working for many years in a traditional impressionistic manner with watercolor, I now paint almost exclusively with liquid acrylics, inks, gessoes, and sometimes collage and let the painting itself be my guide. I begin with no prior plan, only the free flowing pigment and water on paper; which often requires many layers before the painting begins to take on a direction or subject. With each layer I try to build up a rich and interesting surface using a variety of tools and techniques. When successful, the final work will capture my viewers' attention and trigger their imaginations.
