ARTIST STATEMENT

"My vision of life is filled with bright color. The use of broad spectrum paintcolor abstractly applied, with subject matter as landscape, whether figurative or of nature, is most important to me. I use thick paint out of the tube, or house paint. I paint what I know, and use sketches or photos to guide me. My paintings are a culmination of how I view life."

I taught painting in California and in the Northwest. My studies were with major artists and I was influenced by impressionist and post impressionist painters. I was also influenced by Bay area artists of the 1960s and abstract painters of the East. I abstract my shapes and use Cezanne as a model for my construction. I am a studio artist and I work on many paintings at the same time.
